A contribution I had with my workplace was the input as a teen perspective. With this skill I was able to help my mentore out with he work that needed to be done and not only that the work would be done in adults perspective but if I saw something that could of been improved or changed I would have to courage to tell my mentor in how to improve her idea or project. I was also able to get a collection of data with my peers in her after school programs that will benefit her to know how to improve her after school programs and what she can do better with her teenage students that need support. Something else I had was being able to be really flexible with the work that was given to us and the times to come in. So if one of her coworkers needed our help with something different that wasn't really part of the calendar we would be willing to do what we were given and never said no to any job that was offered to us. I feel like if they needed us to do something we would get right up and do it with no problem. Being able to give good input in the meetings we had to go to with our mentor was another strength because we would be really participant in them and took a big role with them.

Something worth telling about my internship is that I was able to go to a meeting at the CSS (Community Support Service). This meeting was with the Director of Development of the YMCA in one of the offices they have by North park. In this meeting they explained everything that the YMCA offers to the community. Before entering this meeting I used to think it was only a facility with a gym and a pool, after school programs and summer camps. I learned that not only it’s a gym with a pool and extracurricular programs but that it also provides programs that brings families together she. They abandon each other. So for example if a mom abandons her son and is found by the YMCA they will try their best to find a family member out their to get them in contact with the kid. After doing that they will help them connect as a family and when they feel the family is ready to be let loose they separate from them to let them live their life. Another program they offers is to give housing to people that are in need and help them find jobs to get them stable. Something fun that also happened that day was that our mentor rented a line scooter for us to try them since any of us Haden’s used them before so you just se us all playing around with it.
A quality or characteristic I see in the people around me is that they are really passionate about what they do In their job and they enjoy working with their colleagues. This is something I would like to develop in myself because I wish I could feel passionate for my work and for what will benefit me in the future, because I know that I only feel passionate for certain things and I let the rest go or I don’t really dedicate my time into it for doing the other things I actually like. I know that I have lots of passions and lots of goals for myself in the first but I wish I could find the time to dedicate to every single thing on its own and not have to be leaving some stuff for doing the other thing I like more. I really admire my mentors on how she is always excited to show up to work and get what she needs to get done. She comes to us every morning asking how we are doing and telling us the plan for the day.
What strikes me the most about my workplace is that every coworker feel passionate to show up to work and they all like working together. It really makes me comfortable to show up to my internship and know that they are willing to work with me and that they give me a reason to like my internship. I really enjoy showing up and having my mentor greet me right when I get there. Something else that struck me was that when it's time to clean out sheds they let us keep what they were going to throw away so we can donate it to kids in Tijuana. One of the days I was sent to clean a shed with activity materials they store there and was asked to throw away anything that looked to used and broken. When it was time to throw them away I realized we were throwing away a lot of toys that are still usable. So I asked if it was okay to keep some of the things that were getting thrown away so I can give away to some children in need in Tijuana and she said of course that that was a great idea and I could take as many as I needed for the children.
A skill I have is that I can work fine with children and that I can accommodate to any work I am given in my internship. This skill is applicable in my internship because I know that I am going to be working with middle schoolers and high schoolers. A skill I would like to improve is feeling confident with my work that I have to turn in. I would like to improve this skill because I know sometimes I don't feel comfortable with my work so I end up deciding not to turn it in so I don't mess up with it. I know this is something I want to improve because I don't want to get a work from my mentor and not feel comfortable enough to do and end up not turning anything im. This can help me with my internship project because I will be able to finish my work that I will need to turn in and also being able to work with children will help me finish my project because i'm pretty sure i'll work with a lot of children.
For my future I want to be a commercial pilot for American Airlines. For my education I want to go to a school that involves aviation courses. My biggest dream is to become a professional soccer player and I know that that is a challenging career to get into so my second big dream is to become a pilot. I want to be an athletic person because i like to be moving around and doing physical activities. I also want to be an adventures person because I enjoy traveling to places and getting to know more of their culture and traditions they have. I want to be able to donate a lot of money to homeless organizations in my community to build them shelter and places for them to shower and rest. Areas I can work on for in my personal life is on being more focused and less destructive and disruptive when it is time to do work. Heading into my internship makes me feel different things. One thing it makes me feel is that i need to start preparing for the real world and that I need to start maturing on actions I take and when things are and when they aren't. Another thing it makes me feel is that it makes me different from students in other high schools because when I enter the real world I will have some experience with working in big thing and not just at school doing class work.
