Building A Team
Description
The first day that the teams were assigned we had to sell our self's. Our first task as a group was to fill out a survey to identify our work style. My peers Beto, Miguel, and Vincent had the same style, while I had a different style. As a group we've had to collaborate so we can understand each other, ideas and creativity. We have had to understand different concepts in physics to be able to take measurements and apply Newton's laws. This has helped us understand how the house maintained its self up. The interviews we've conducted as a group will help us beyond the classroom. This knowledge will help us in the future as we prepare our resumes in hopes we will be interviewed for potential jobs.
Reflection
When I first got to collaborate with my group mates I felt lost. Getting along with my group mates was a challenge because they already knew each other while I had never talked to them. Another challenge we had was that some of us had ideas that weren't really reasonable for a tiny house so we would be arguing for a while making us lose time. A way we were able to overcome that challenge was by having good communication as a group so we would discuss how we can include that idea in another way so it can be reasonable for the tiny house.

Learning To Live Tiny
Description
On one of the first days of school we had a blue scotch tape box in the middle of the class. The teachers had asked what could we fit in that box and many of us were saying it could be a shed. Until the very end somebody had said it could be a small house. As a whole class we would have field trips to Space 4 Art and have bob give us lessons on what a tiny home is and why this whole project is going on. He would also show us different blueprints of the house sizes. My learning has gone beyond classroom expectations because now I understand blueprints and architectural methods that can be used in the future.
Reflection
I remember one of the first days of school being asked by the teachers what we could fit on a small scotch taped box that was in the middle of the class. We. Were all saying different ideas like we can make it a big dog house, or a shed, or a little office. Nobody with the mentality that the little square can be a real living space. Until the end one of my classmates came up with the idea that it could be a small house. Since then the teachers have been showing us how to minimize our cloth and how to minimize on the stuff we have.An example can be when we had to bring thirty items we don't really use and after thirty days we without looking at the items we had to remember what they were. Whatever items we didn't remember we had to give away or donate to somebody who needs it.

Learning To Build A Park
Description
When we would go to Space 4 Art we would learn how to measure in units we didn't know about yet and learned to use power tools. Once we had all the panels done for the structure of the park we Started flattening the land to make it look decent. When the area was ready to work on the structure we started to put all the panels together. At the park site we were able to use different power tools that would let us have the structure secure and won't fall.
Reflection
At Space 4 Art we started learning how to convert inches to meters. We would also use power tools that i wasn’t expecting to use in freshman year. Just from building a park you learn a lot of stuff you can use outside of school. For example I learned how to use a chainsaw and like a few months later my dad had a project for us to do at his house and it included using a chainsaw which he didn't expect me to know how to use. Just building a park is something really big for a freshman to be doing and something adults would think we don't have the capability of doing.
Team Banner/Logo
Description
When we created our team name and banner we were put in groups and we had to brainstorm different logos and different names than would represent us. Some of us were coming up with names that weren't really professional but were funny, we did try come up with a name that was professional because this name was going to be presented to our parents, the artists and to the public. Having a list of names we had to put our heads on the table and were only allowed to vote for one name. Lastly the name "Sempiternal" was the name we mostly voted for. The name is symbolic to us because it means forever lasting, eternal, and everlasting. We like this name because we want our project to originally be ours. We later got in pairs and created our own ideas and of a logo/banner for our team. We then presented them to the team and each got voted until there were 3 last designs. 2 of them were quite similar, so the teachers thought it was a good idea to combine them. Then the 2 logos that were combined ended up winning.
Reflection
When we were first creating the name for our team we all had different ideas. All tho some of them weren't so professional we liked them. We then tried to come up with professional names. We all had to vote for a name and we ended up coming up with the name sempiternal. Then for the logo we had different groups and we all had different ideas for what could possibly be our logo. Then we all voted for a logo and two similar logos got combined to make one. The final logo ended up being the one that got combined.

Interviewing and Designing With the Artists
Description
When we finished building the park and making our team logo we then had to have some information about the artist we were going to interview. Our group artist was Paul W. Koester, he is a photographer and he likes to do mixed media art. When we interviewed paul we asked him different questions on what he wanted his house to look like. He asked for lots of wall space so he can put his art up and he also also asked and a workspace where he could work and store all his art work. Then during class we learned to use sketchup to make a digital model of the house we designed for him, and in Art class we were making a cardboard box house for a smaller design.
Reflection
When we interviewed our artists we had to dress nice and we also had the questions that were going to be asked to him ready. Our artists name is Paul W. Koester. He is a photographer and he also likes to work with mixed media. During the interview I learned that paying attention to there responds to ask follow up questions is important. Asking follow up questions is important because you get more information out of them and it makes it easier for us to design the houses. While designing the house we had some arguments as a group but the argument were for how the house could possibly be so it wasn't bad arguments that would affect us.
Presenting Blueprints, Layout Pages and SketchUp Models to Artists
Description
When we went to Space 4 Art my group and I had to present our models, blueprints, SketchUp models, and other things that had to do with the project. The people attending our presentation where our teachers, our parent, our artist and professional architects. While being there we got feedback from the architects and our artist of what we could add or what parts of our house wouldn't work for this project.
Reflection
In our POL we had to present and while presenting we got feedback from architect and from our artist on what we can improve and what we could add on our house. I learned that if I enter to the presentation room calm I won't be nervous of presenting and I could present calmly.

Fundraising
Description
To make the Tiny House Project come true we had to fundraise $18,000. Our everyday goal was to get $500 so we would get print outs to put out in the public. By the first few weeks we were doing good but half way to the end we started slowing down on our goal so started to lose hope. By the last week we were still missing like $13,000 so for like three days during class we were trying to contact any big company that could donate to us. We were able to find someone from Qualcomm that was willing to donate $10,000 but we had to present. The presentation went well but we received the money on the last day so we were still missing the $3,000. Then when there was missing 12 hours we were able to get the Kids museum to donate $3,000 and accomplished our $18,000 goal.
Reflection
For the fundraiser we tried our best to reach our goal of $500 am day. We did well but towards the end we started dropping and not getting so much progres. When there was only three days left we were missing $13,000, we thought we weren't going to make it any more but then two big opportunities showed up were we could get those $13,000. Those opportunities where really last moments but helped us to make this projec true. Something I took from that experience is that no matter how late it is don't give up and keep looking for those opportunities because you never know what could happen.

A Building Company is Born
Description
With our goal meat of $18,000 we officially became a building company. For a whole month both classes were going to Space 4 Art. There we were broken up into small groups and worked on different parts of the house. I got to work on building the house panels. We would have to measure all the panels the same size and then put them together. We did have some challenges on it because there was times when we would miss calculate the overhang and we would have to do the whole panel over instead of just the overhang.
Reflection
With just like a month and a half of working on the house we were able to build a whole house for a artist. I am really proud of the work we did because I might think it's boring to be building a house and that there is no point on doing this because it doesn't help us in a future but it does. This makes us look good as teenafgers because it is really impresive for a fifteen year old to be building a house and we are actually doing something that will benefit others too. I am glad I could got the chance to do this project because this is an opportunity not everybody has. I feel that this project helped me be productive too because normally I wouldn't work but with this project I would here the teachers telling me to keep working like this and to keep motivating my peers.

Exhibition
Description
The Festival Del Sol was a big night for us, we had visitors from different places. We had different sections like the house, the book section, the poster and the consultation station. We all took turns on the different sections and we got to explain what this whole project is all about. In the consultation station we got to design a house to a random person that would show up to our table. In the house we got to show our movie on all the phases it took to get to the final product and it the book station we got to describe what it is about and why we created it.
Reflection
This was my second exhibition for High Tech High Chula Vista. It was really fun for me and I got to spend time with my group mates. This for me is a really good way to learn how to collaborate with other people and to represent your thinking and to show what you have learned throughout the process.
