Topic: Syrian Refugees
Refugees have been a world problem for a long time. Specially right now it's been a huge problem starting in the middle east and is expanding to lots of countries around. Greece is one of the countries that many refugees mostly go. There are about 13.5 million refugees identified looking for help. Having refugees has affected greece in many ways that haven't really been positive for this country. The Refugee Crisis Management Coordination Body’s data say that there are around 57,042 refugees in Greece as of right now, 5,501 refugees are staying at UNHCR-created settlements, 5,759 are staying at non-organized facilities, and 1,500 are scattered. Sending the refugees back would be like reliving a past crises of the Saint Louis boat full of Jewish refugees that was sent back causing most of their deaths. We should be able to acknowledge that this could not only be a problem for the country's neer the crisis but for the whole world, if we don't really take this in consideration on coming together to help these innocent people and those countries who do have the resources to help out make organizations or camps for the refugees. Instead of fighting the groups in war and make more enemies thinking that would solve the problem we should get together and make something good for these people and then focus on the civil war.
Around three thousand of the refugees are going towards greece in overloaded boats that are life threatening. Getting capsized or sinking was the reason for around two thousand five hundred refugees death o a boat ride to greece. Out of all the refugees that came from turkey in the boat and having around two thousand five hundred dead the survivors are all put in a camp that its capacity is over fuiled and is in the poorest condition possible for them. For those that were lucky enough to make it alive have to arrive in these camps that are in horrible conditions for weeks, months or even years just after wat they came from. For this issue Greece can't do much about it they have lost of financial issues and they can’t really pay to fix these camps, while european union, bribed Greece with an estimate of $803m since 2015. Europe is doing other things to help in other ways than just giving them money like creating the EU Civil Mechanism Act where around 20 countries are donating camp materials such as tents, water pumps, heaters and more, however it’s not enough. The conditions are still dangerous and inadequate. With this help of Europe they are able to improve the conditions a little more but not the overpopulation of the amount of refugees in the camp.
